Hello muddah, hello new faddah 🏕️
Becoming a dad can be a wild ride, full of stress, changing roles, and the pressure to be more involved in childcare. But support for new fathers? Still pretty hard to come by.
Just take this tweet from rapper SKYPP as an example:

That’s why a group of 19 expectant and new dads took part in a 5-week program called “Becoming Fathers.” Kind of like a ‘New Dad camp’.
The goal?
To help them cope with stress, boost their parenting confidence, and get better at communicating with their partners. This was attempted through mindfulness, group chats, and hands-on baby-care skills.
Before and after the program, these dads took surveys on their stress levels, depression, mindfulness, and how involved they felt as fathers.
The results?
Stress and depression dropped, and the dads became more mindful—especially in not judging themselves too harshly. However, no big change was seen in how they viewed their role as fathers. Interestingly, those whose babies arrived before or after the program (and not during, like some experienced) got the most stress relief.
So, does this mean you need to scoot off to a new dad camp to chill out? Well, you can if you want, but the main focus should be on the results of the study.
If blokes felt less depressed and less stressed out after focusing on mindfulness, group chats with other soon-to-be-dads and a little nappy-wrapping training then why not try replicate this in your own life?

Tip from a Dad Psych reader!
Before we dive in, let me just say; this is all for a bit of fun. It’s not actually going to predict what your child will look like, so don’t shoot the messenger!
Anyway, when my wife and I were excitedly waiting for our baby to arrive, we couldn’t help but wonder what he'd look like, especially as a mixed-race couple.
So, we turned to the tool of the moment—ChatGPT and it’s Image Generator—and fed it a bunch of details: ethnicity, countries of origin, age, height, weight, you name it. Basically, the more info you provide, the more detailed the result.
And the results? Adorable! We got a cute, chubby Asian-Caucasian blend. Great head of hair too, I must say.

Does it actually look like my child? A little bit yeah. Minus the long, flowing locks.
But even if your little one has already arrived and you know what they look like, you can still ask it to generate future photos—ages 5, 15, 25, and even 40! The results were pretty interesting.
Plus, it’s free, give it a go!
We want to hear from you! 🧏♂️

🎶 Dad song of the week
Ah, honestly, when I first heard this track, I didn’t really care for it. Fast forward a few years to when my wife was pregnant and it hit all the feels.
Jay-Z's "Glory" is a great listen for dads as it perfectly captures the mix of joy, pride, and awe that comes with becoming a father. His excitement and love shine through, and any dad can relate to that feeling of pure happiness when their little one arrives.
“Your mama said that you danced for her. Did you wiggle your hands for her?”
😭
Any suggestions for the next track? Drop a reply to the email!
